Yuri Belloube is a second-year Ph.D. student in the Studies of the Portuguese-Speaking World program, with a specialization in contemporary Brazilian literature.
He holds a master's degree in literary studies from the State University of São Paulo (UNESP). Yuri was awarded a federal scholarship from the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq) for his research project, "The Encounter with the Self and the Affirmation of Identity as a Form of Resistance in Chicano Productions," in which he examined identity and resistance in Chicanx literary works. This research stemmed from a scientific initiation program sponsored by the UNESP rectory when Yuri was an undergraduate covered by student permanency policies. He also helped organize the International Literary Symposium at UNESP in 2024.
Yuri graduated with a degree in Languages/Teaching (Letras) from the same institution in 2023. During his studies, he published an article on Conceição Evaristo's book "Ponciá Vicêncio" and completed two scientific initiation projects. The first was on the influence of Celtic mythology on Shakespeare's work in his first year, and the second was on the hyphenation of Latinx identity in the United States and the pursuit of the American Dream as portrayed in literary works in his final year. He also worked on the board of the undergraduate academic journal Mosaico for two years.
